What a great experience! The sheep shearing, the dogs herding the sheep, and delicious buffet and the stunning views! Excellent!

    • Ruth H (April 2019)

After an enjoyable trip across lake in steamship Earnslaw enjoyed the whole experience Of the sheep shearing demonstration and dogs working with the sheep. The buffet lunch was absolutely excellent with such a variety of dishes and sweets. All in all a most enjoyable afternoon in a magic setting

Fabulous sunny day made this excursion perfect. The cruise was very pleasant and the sheep shearing presentation was excellent. The gourmet BBQ lunch was fantastic. We enjoyed sitting on Walter Peak's terrace so much that we didn't take the next boat back and just enjoyed the sunshine and the fabulous view. We would highly recommend the the trip and gourmet BBQ lunch.

This was an amazing voyage. From viewing the coals being shoveled into the engines and the scenery on our way to the farm, this boat ride was incredible. The only thing I was disappointed with was that the lunch didn’t include the farm tour. We went on our own after lunch to see the animals we could. Otherwise worth the trip and time.

    • Ronald B (March 2019)

The best part was watching the triple expansion steam engines in operation on the TSS Earnslaw as we crossed the lake. There aren't many 100 year old steam boats still in use. The Earnslaw is a classic!
The barbeque also was outstanding, as were the beautiful flower gardens. I highly recommend this tour.

    • Stuart S (October 2018)

My wife and I took the 100+ year old steamboat over to Walter Peak for the Sheep shearing and BBQ lunch. The entire trip was very well organized and both kids and adults will love being able to see the twin steam engines power the TSS Earnslaw. You can watch the guy shovel coal (1 ton/Hr) in to fuel the boilers. The sheep shearing was entertaining and the dogs did a great job of bringing the sheep to the pen. From there we went to eat a very nice self serve BBQ lunch. There is a wide selection of meats from BBQ Chicken, Pork, Beef, Lamb etc. Go hungry as there is a lot to eat. There was wide selection of desserts which were also very good.

    • RockyDick (April 2018)

This was incredibly enjoyable! The TSS Earnslaw steamer provided a nostalgic ride with beautiful views of the lake and Remarkable mountains. The sheep shearing with the sheep dogs demo was super interesting and the BBQ lunch was sumptuous with lots of quality choices, and all you could eat, in a stunning setting. Highly recommend this tour.

    • Kevin M (March 2018)

This tour is really really good. The first part is a 45min cruise on a 112ft coal fired steam ship that is fitted out for comfortable passenger travel. There are two covered decks and an open foredeck. The land portion at the Walter Peak farm is very good. It starts off with a sheep shearing and sheep dog demonstration followed by an extravagant bbq buffet lunch with all the food choice you could ever want. The return ship journey is accompanied by a lady playing well known sing-a-long songs on a grand piano. An excellent tour for good value.

It was a beautiful sunny day one drawback was that the ship was rather overcrowded a lot of people went on deck but it became very windy in the middle of the lake and everyone tried to get downstairs. It was lovely at the farm

I would definitely recommend this experience. The trip on the TSS Earnslaw was lovely. The scenery is beautiful. The location is amazing, the other side of the lake, very remote and peaceful. The lunch was AMAZING! Such a selection of cheeses, meats and desserts. Next time I would definitely choose some activities to do and make a day of it, such as the horse trek.

    • John M (December 2017)

Love it! The boat ride was perfect, the food was amazing! The sheep were so cute-

    • kirstielam (October 2017)

I have been to Queenstown once before but was unaware of this trip.I was told about this trip from a friend at work. I booked on line and it was easy did want to do the dinner but fully booked. It was February and a beautiful sunny day in Queenstown when we got on the steam boat and headed to Walter Peak. I am pleased we went on the lunch time trip because we got to enjoy the beautiful day. The trip was run efficiently . When we got to Walter Peak we waited a short time to go to lunch . The lunch was which was amazing . Definitely gourmet and a good selection for vegetarian but no fish option. I made up for it with desserts! The dog herding and wool shearing display were also very good. This is th first time I have seen a sheep being sheared live and nice to be so close to the displays. All in all a great day out!
